Emotion and Empathy
Empathy is the ability to experience another's emotions. Our ability
to empathize is based on common physiological response. Our response
may prepare us to fight or flee, approach or retreat, seek or avoid.
We may name these states anger or fear, curiosity or indifference,
desire or repulsion.
Naming labels common physiology, allowing us to communicate and understand
one another. Empathy is the basis of understanding.
